Wednesday, May 29: Leviticus 5– The answer to our human sin-dilemma…

Honestly I get a bit confused by the sin offering and the guilt offering. They seem very similar and I am not exactly clear on the differences. Although I do notice that the guilt offering seems to have something to do with restitution or a penalty for what he/her has done.
As I mulled over today’s reading, I decided to do some further reading on these offerings. The Holman Dictionary made this comment; The sacrificial system taught the necessity of dealing with sin and, at the same time, demonstrated that God had provided a way for dealing with sin.
This comment resonated in a very deep place with me. I looked back over my recent devotions. In my own blogs I had noted similar themes, but I had not put these two aspects together. Yes, the sacrificial system taught the necessity of dealing with sin and, at the same time, demonstrated that God had provided a way for dealing with sin.
What a profound understanding! Isn’t God amazing? God could simply and justly crush us for our sin, yet God provides an answer to our sin-dilemma. God provides a way out from under our own sin.
I found myself sitting and marveling at God… loving God for what He has done for me (us). In the OT God gave the sacrificial system. Then in Jesus, God gave Himself, the ultimate answer to the human sin-dilemma.
I thanked God for His mercy and grace. I praised God for His justice and mercy. I blessed God for allowing my heart to see and my soul to believe in Jesus, the way out from under my sins!

Thank You, Lord God Almighty… Praise You, Heavenly Father… Bless You, Jesus, Redeemer, Savior and Lord. Amen.
