… fix
your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we
confess (1).
What a thought-filled
nugget. The writer of this letter bids his readers (me/us) to concentrate on
Jesus, to think on Jesus, to dwell on Jesus, to fill our minds with Jesus… this,
the writer suggests, is a, maybe the, defense against drifting
away.
Hebrews is constantly
warning us against the drift that can happen to any Christ-follower who does not
pay attention to his/her faith. Jesus is the faithful Son who is over the house,
therefore as we fill our lives with thoughts about Him. We are drawn close and
protected from stray thoughts that can and certainly will lead us down wrong
paths…
Fix
your thoughts on Jesus… my goal for today.
Jesus… Good
Shepherd, One and only Son, Redeemer, Lord, Savior, Creator, King of kings and
Lord or lords… only some of the names in Scripture used to address and reveal
You…..and a grand way for me to keep my thoughts fixed on You! To You I pray
this morning. Amen.
