What a perfect chapter to
read on a Saturday, the day before Lord’s Day worship. Paul ends his letter with
a doxology, a praise statement to God Almighty.
Now to
him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus
Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of
the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him-- to the only
wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen (25-27).
Oh, God, I
join in the chorus of praise and thanksgiving to You, the only wider God. May
Your name be endlessly praised and glory upon glory be given unto You. Amen.
PS Two phrases I noticed.
1) so that all nations might believe and
obey him (Jesus). God’s desire from the beginning is that the nations
would know Him!…
2) to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus
Christ. Should people ever wonder if there is more than one God, this
verse sings what scripture teaches….No, there is only one God... Only one ‘wise’
God whom we access through Jesus Christ, and Jesus alone.
Amen
