Thursday, April 4: Exodus 31– God provides…

God provides’ flooded my thoughts as I sat back and began pondering this chapter.
God provides the people and skills needed to accomplish the tasks He assigns. This is what I observed in reading about Bezelel. God gave intricate designs for the tabernacle and its furnishing but He also provided the perfect artisan to execute His design. God provides.
In a hand to mouth society where one must work each day to survive each day, God provides rest –the Sabbath. The Sabbath, a day of rest for man and animal, a day to be able to sit, recover, relax and worship the One who provides. The Sabbath was not only a day of rest, it was a day for Israelites to marvel at the provision of God.  Remember there was no manna on the Sabbath, but they could collect twice as much manna on the day before the Sabbath and it did not spoil over night, but only on the Sabbath. God provides.
Two thoughts grew from these observations.
First, remember God provides still to this day. God invited me to consider the many ways He provides in my life….health, family, work, friends.  Just yesterday I had a flat-tire on the highway. No blowout, but a flat. My tire gauge went on, and I made it safely to a rest stop a mile or so down the road, where I safely changed the tire and was on my way in ten minutes. I commented to my wife, as we drove off, how gracious God was to us. Take a moment and count some of the ways God provides for you.
Second, for what endeavor of God might you be God’s Bezelel? In other words, what gifts and abilities do you have that you might offer to God? There is likely a spot where you provide just the right mix of gifts to get God’s agenda accomplished. Pray and ask God to show you. Offer your services to your church or some Christ-honoring ministry you appreciate. You are God’s provision to advance the Gospel somewhere.
Thank You for Your provision, Oh Lord. I offer You my services.  Assign me as You assigned Bezelel to some task that makes Your Name known throughout the earth!

For Your glory, Amen!
