Friday, April 5: Exodus 32– How quickly we can turn…

How quickly we turn from God to something or someone else!! Within 40-days Israel turned from the Lord to another god! After all the miracles and the daily manna supply, the Israelites seek some other god. They even have Aaron fashion the calf-idol for them because Moses is not present to restrain them.
Here before me is a living illustration of the scripture that says, "There is no one righteous, not even one;  there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips" (Romans 3:10-13).
This chapter frightens me because it shows me how quickly I, or any of us, can turn from the Lord.
I sit here not even a week after Easter and shutter…

Lord, I am thankful that You hold on to me, that my salvation depends on You… because I can be so weak and so faithless. And yet God, Moses didn’t waver. Joshua didn’t waver.  So through Your Holy Spirit and Your empowerment I need not waver either. I cling to You, knowing full well that it is You clinging to me that saves! Alleluia. Bless You, Jesus. Amen.
