Devotionally my attention was arrested by the utter silence at the opening of the 7th seal. When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour (1).
In the heavenly vision of Revelation, where there are few time references and no other hourly time references, the utter silence for half an hour seems emphatic.
In the constantly moving story line of Revelation the utter silence for half an hour seems emphatic!
Stunned silence…
Awe…
Total amazement…
Is this what the power and majesty of God should or will engender in us… utter, expectant, silence?!
I allowed myself to sit, not for 30 minutes, but for some time in silence and ponder the majesty of our God –Father, Jesus, Spirit…
Oh, God… I mumbled in awe. Amen.
