Friday, May 17: Matthew 28– It’s empty; he has risen…

Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay (5-6).
The central truth of the Christian faith… Jesus has risen! The Apostle Paul is quite frank about it. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God…. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men (1Corinthians 15:14-19).
The death and resurrection of Jesus is the core of the faith, without these then our faith is futile and we are to be pitied more than all. Let’s be honest, it is a faith-gamble to believe. People of the world will likely think we are foolish to believe and to reorder our lives to follow Jesus.
Faith in Jesus has a cost… if we are wrong we are to be pitied. If we are right we have eternal life.
I choose Jesus. I choose faith. I choose to reorder my life to proclaim Jesus who lived and taught and died on the cross and was raised from the dead!
What will you choose?
Lord, thank You for the faith to believe… Alleluia. Amen.
Before I turned to prayer I simply thought about the resurrection and what it must have been like for the first followers who went and found the tomb empty!
