An entire chapter about
priestly clothing. Specific clothing for God’s ‘set-apart’ ones, the only people
who could come into God’s presence and perform the atoning duties of the
tabernacle!
The importance of the
clothing and what they represented hit me when I read about the turban.
Make a
plate of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD. Fasten a
blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the
turban. It will be on Aaron's forehead, and he will bear the guilt involved in
the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will
be on Aaron's forehead continually so that they will be acceptable to the
LORD (36-38).
The symbolism is
incredible… I invite you to sit and allow these images to soak into you.
Consider all that the Lord is communicating by placing this seal on the forehead
of the priest…
As I meditated, I pondered
the seal of the Holy Spirit upon each of us who are Christ-followers (read
Ephesians 1). We not only have been sealed with a golden seal, we have been
sealed by the infilling of God’s Holy Spirit so that we might live HOLY TO THE
LORD!
And now ‘in Christ’ it is
not only the priests, it is everyone who follows Jesus that gets God’s seal!
Wow…
Lord God, may
it be so. May I, may Your church live HOLY TO YOU!!! Through Jesus our Savior
and the Holy Spirit our Empowerer, we pray. Amen.
